I BLOG!
Freud is our latest study in my German Philosophy class and according to him our urges and desires are all subconscious and if you don't give into them they become displaced a present themselves through other actions. So since I don't want to compulsively wash my hands I decided I should just do a post instead :) I really want to do a run down of my Thanksgiving weekend (I have lots of pics!) but I don't have time right now - this blog is just a quickie to tide me over until I have time to do a real blog post.
I'd like to start off by saying that I only have 16 days until I'm back in my old home!!!! I am soooo excited to fly home this year. Last year I was burnt out but I wasn't overly stoked about flying home but this year I am the complete opposite! I also noticed that the older I get the more excited I get about holidays. I used to be somewhat of a scrooge (to put is nicely) and I generally strongly dislike holidays but I am SO excited for Christmas this year and I was also excited for Thanksgiving. I don't know what it is but being happy about such a joyous time is a great sensation :)
Unfortunately having only 16 days until I go home also means that I have to complete my finals... blurg. I hate finals especially since this year I have five finals, two papers, and one presentation to complete. Thankfully I had the break to recharge and re-motivate myself for a marathon of studying (if only using brain power burned as many calories as running...). I'm so happy that I finally caught onto working out in my room because it's a great way to get energized and get some physical activity in without taking a huge break from studying (unfortunately lifting a diet coke to your mouth doesn't constitute as a bicep curl...).
In other news - forgetting to eat throughout the day results in a manic hunger attack and all the sudden that microeconomics book is looking mighty tasty. The first thing I did to prevent myself from throwing salt on my textbook was call Neyaz and beg her to pick me up some food from upper campus (since she was already up there) unfortunately she wasn't coming back to the room till eleven. I had to instill plan B: root around her fridge (Lauren always keeps it stocked with food) and I came across some soy milk since it is no secret that I am a cereal addict I immediately texted Lauren and begged for some sustenance. I must admit that I have never tasted soy milk. This summer I stopped consuming as much milk and started drinking almond milk but I never actually tried soy milk. After Lauren responded to me with the go ahead I came up with this concoction:
- Maple and Brown sugar granola
- Kashi GoLean (basically twigs and other foliage)
- Silk soy milk
Soy milk is a lot better than I thought it would be. The only problem that I had with it is that it is a little too sweet for me. I was also surprised to see that it wasn't very low-calorie. If I can find some that's lower in calories (this was 100 cal per serving) I might consider using this instead of milk more often. The granola had a really strong brown sugar flavor. I noticed that Cascadian Farms cereals are a little overpowering, I tried there cinnamon mini-wheat type of cereal and it was just too much! Thankfully I toned this granola down with some really bland Kashi golean. I don't know how people eat it by itself. This combo was SO filling I could barely finish it all and I probably had a cup of cereal. That was at 8:00 and it is now 2:30 and I am still full so that's saying a lot! I'll definitely try this again :)
I'm going to stop rambling now and dream of the day when finals are over. I've been stalking up on magazines and have all of these waiting for me :)
