Despite my sudden onslaught of amnesia regarding carbohydrates, I did do something really great this past week. I FINALLY went to a spin class! I've been wanting to try spin for such a long time and I finally did! Guess what?!? I LOVED it! One of my really good friends (and sorority sister) Lauren invited me to go along with her and I am SO glad that she did! I've known Lauren for a couple years now and she is one of the main reasons I joined SPURS sorority. This year I also learned something else about Lauren... she's a BLOGGER! Her blog is called HealthEasy and it's super cute. Basically, Lauren blogs about delicious healthy recipes! I love living vicariously through her since she's in a position in which she can actually cook (she lives off campus). So go check out her blog and amazing recipe ideas and reviews!!!
Back to spin.. The instructor was a really nice older man and was very helpful and kind. The workout we did was 'scenic hills,' if that's any inclination (haha pun INCLINE-ation... I'll stop now...) of the difficultly level. Needless to say, there were a lot of hills! Behind him a projector displayed a video of a trail in front of you. I thought that it was kind of interesting and you could almost pretend that you really were riding on the road! I only had two complaints about the class (that's minimal for me because I am very critical lol)...
(1) the instructor did not have crazy energy. He was really great but I like group instructors with tons of energy that really pump you up and motivate you.
(2) The music. I was expecting some dance hits or 80s club hits (maybe even a little top 40..) but to be totally honest the music he played was a mix between African drumming and a Swedish porn with techno beats - very odd
I don't currently have a membership to the YMCA and since school ends so soon there is no point in getting one but I'm going to see if there is anyway I can pay per class or work something out because I'd really like to go again. I had worked out the same morning (Wednesday) of spin so I was planning on having super sore legs the next day but in actuality my shoulders were more sore. I'm assuming from holding my upper body up while biking? I'm not really sure but they did hurt! All in all I can't wait to go back!
For some reason I was super nervous about posting since I haven't really been sticking to my guns and maintaining my "diet." That's what tomorrow is for I guess! No reason to let a couple days set back keep me from reaching my goal!
